I'm doing the disc brake conversion on my 8.8 and one of the axle seals is toast, so I'm changing it and all the bearings.

My question is, do I need a slide hammer to get everything out ?

Naw, the axle comes out pretty easy once you remove the C-clip.

Yes Walt you will need a slide hammer to pull the bearing out of the housing.

ya what Nut bar said Seal no bearing yes..... igot to do mine as well

they have disk conversion setups that eliminate the c-clip design as well...

this is what im doing to mine in the BII replaces oem bearing and all i have a write up on it.. some where cool setup and easy to duplicate it with some fab work...

if you dont have a slide hammer and the carior is out you can use a long like6'long drift to get them out

It was a return, so the case was a little beat up but all the parts were there for $30

Here's a write up on the 8.8 in a Jeep for c-clip elimination.
Great site for Jeep stuff in general too.

Hardly needed the slide hammer, fucking thing was half out anyways. Had to hammer it back in to take out the c-clip.

Now the axle hits the e-brake assem. and it doesn't slide in far enough to put the c-clip back on. [13]
