I had a F250 in '88 that used the Mazda 5 speed & came with ATF in the trans. Don't see how it would hurt in the winter, just change it every engine oil change & maybe back to gear oil in the spring?

I had an acura that used 10w30 in the tranny.

I wouldnt do it
when the tranny gets warm the atf will thin out to much and we`re not cold enough here in the LM to prevent that.
If anything use 20wt30 motor oil thats thinner than gear oil but thicker than atf and will keep the gears bearings and bushings better lubed
