well over the next 8 months or so i'll be working on this.

Alot of bracing still needs to be done. the body is 50" wide, the wheel base is 110. i plan on running front and rear 60's stearing front and rear. The suspension mounts and belly pan are also not included. I want to get the basic shape and layout done on the computer then the fit and finish parts will be done as i start building.

still going to be v8? , i would think about a lighter engine higher hood line and tighter rockers, but thats just me. looks like a cool build , oneday im going to build a buggy after a few other projects get finished

Which CAD program are you using for your illustrations? Looks cool, but 1.175" tubing sounds a little light. Don't think I'd use anything less then 1.625" for the bulk of the chassis.

sorry its 1.75 tubing.

i want the V8. i'd think about a V6 but i already got a killer V8.

I say ditch the heavy v8 crap, and do a subaru 2.5L 4 cyl. Your visibility would be killer.

[stupid] and turbo`d up you can easily run 300 horse for under 250 pounds with a lower COG and they sound nasty with 2.5" pipes

I thought about running toy drive train...but I am not overly impressed with how wide they are...so maybe somethin like

toy 3.4
dual tcases 23 spline with a 4.7
dana 60 axels with rear steer

mine might take longer

The 3.4 is nice, but then you have to get the v6 to 4cyl adapter plate, 23 spline inputs at $180US each plus the cost of the engine.... If you build it light enough, you dont need tons of HP.

why don't you do a healthy 4 or 6 cylinder mid mounted set up?

Looks cool Kris, and don't listen to these guys . . . sure nobody NEEDS a V8 but they are WAY WAY more fun the next project is gonna get my 425hp 383 Chev put back in it.[36]

any info? diesel makes me happy in the pants...

I'd say small disp. diesel w/ turbo too. Plenty of torque, good fuel economy, will run at any angle, reliable, simple. VW seems to be a simple swap, fair amount of toy guys put em in.

all tube buggy would be sweet. have fun with it. v8 power would be awesome and lots of fun for sure [36] but if you want a smaller engine why not 4.3 chevy? decent power and EFI. cheap lots of them around

i don't knwo yet. I am still in the planning stage. i will be putting a hood on the jeep, new firewall and redoign the front upper link and adding a panhard bar before i start this buggy. btu i wana put alot of time and planning into it before i just jump in a build.

Take alook at the hendrix x chassis for tube design ideas... its a real straight forward design with quite a few of them being built and run with different engine combo's. People have been getting pretty low COG with the way the diffs and links are set up. Somedays I feel like selling the ftoy and building a new all tube coilover'd buggy but then my wife hits me and i rethink it ;)
