Puttin it here as it was a trip plus a huntin trip.
Also see pics in Hunting & Ford forums.
Got this thing built, but not complete. drove up to tumbler & wheeled it for a week, then drove back = 1990 kms.

Took the oldest kid with me, met up with my dad. Stayed for a week , saw 1 Grizzly, 2 black bears. Heard a lot of wolves & saw tracks, not many moose:(

A full moon, wolves, bears & the friggin Gov't let out 200 big bull draws (from 80 last year) plus an imature bull season, an open calf season & a cow draw in Jan????
WTF Do they know how to kill off the moose or what.

Was in Kelowna on Sun night, had the moose in the back, took it up to my dads to hang. was in vernon tonight, spent 1hr 15min to wash it:eek:

Just for thought, my 4 cyl 4Runner (last year) with all our gear was $200 from Vernon to Bear Lake. My Bronco was $130.00 to Bear Lake & 1 hour faster. Go Toyota[36]

Got Mud

The pic doesn't give the ditch justice. Side hill, about 18" deep with ruts & its wet clay. I could hardly walk up it.
I had the 4Runner last year (after haveing 5 other Broncos) $4000 to rebuild the 4cyl, lifted with 31" BFG Mudders.
The thing was gutless, shitty mileage & no room inside.
Not to mention that the cost of parts for a Yota compared to a ford or Chev are out to lunch.
($14 for a dash light bulb that I could only get at the dealer. Also compare the price of a water pump at Lordco between a Yota 22RE & a SB Ford/Chev)

I've prob. been wheeling longer than you've been alive[15]

Not really bashing them , but I was disappointed in them after owning one.
The one thing that kills me with Yota fans are that by the time they have built one, the only thing Yota left is the cab & front clip. The rest is Chev.
The roll bars do make good bumpers.

Cheers

Actually the gov't loses money on the LEH's

If you factor in what it costs to print the regs, & cards. Pay someone at Access BC to sell them. Do the draws & send out the results to everyone. Then send out the reply card at end of season. Then if you don't reply right away, they keep sending more reply cards. I think they should just listen to the hunters more before giving out so many tags.

most built yotas seem to still have toy diffs with alot of the time stock gearing in the diffs and most likley eather smurfs or longs dual toyota transfer cases toyota engine a 22re pr 5mge or 7mgte. most people arent putting chevy into there toy. eather way for the amount it would take to build ur bronco to go the places that a properly built toy can go would cost u a hell of alot more.

hey jeepingpw if your full size heavy wait bronk could get up that clay, then anybody could tell ya that a little wheel speed in the yota you'd get up there. and as far as the price thing goes for parts. i've rebuilt my toy from parts twice over and i would have to say , no affence but it would go a fuck of alot further than that bronco mud or trail

Yep, a lighter veh will go better on trails. If I want to go on trails, I take my GPW. It makes your Toy a heavey weight[15]

Buddy shut the F%$k up the guy is kind enough to show us some pics from his trip and tell a story (thats why were here) and you start jumping all over him for nothing. yes its true Toyotas are drastically under powered most of the time especially when its a 4Runner with an automatic if he says he couldnt make it up the hill I believe him. As much of a fan of Toyotas I am no truck is perfect.

I bet there is almost as many guys on this board running chevy engines in their toys on this board then there are guys runnin toy engines. Not that i would i am bound and determined to keep my toy 100% toy.

I also am a fan of the 100% Toy!! I think it's a shame when people pull out the old straight 6 from the L.C., those beasts have TORQUE!

Can't we all just get along[16]

Now back to the subject at hand.
Hunted all week this was the only moose we saw. Fri morning I called a bull in to within 50 yards but he wouldn't come out into the open. Also saw a Grizzly bear, took a pic but he was too far away.

what region did you see the bear in?

7-23

Talked to a few Biologists, lots of grizz around. They have been leaving road kill to feed them so they don't go after the calf moose.
This year they let out 200 Grizz draws up there.

Hers the funny story on the Grizz.

Heard form a few guys that 3 were hanging around the river at the bridge. The kid & me decided to go play around there & get some pics. Drove up to the end of road & then walked into a big cut on the other side of the gully from where we were parked. Saw lots of bear tracks, did a big circle glassing the cut , no bears. Was starting to get dark so walked beck to Bronco. got in & turned it around. about 400 yards away , heres a griz , broad side watching us. Took a pic but was too far away & the setting sun to his back. wasted 2 hours walking when he was prob there all along.[15]

Next day at day break heard a pack of Wolves. Hiked into another cut that had lots of dog tracks , but again didn't see any.

Did see 2 big blacks on our way in first day.
