302 is a good runner for most easy to build u can even do a stroker if ya want...

10-13-2006, 12:29 PM
if its standard then go for it, I had a 302 in my old truck with thoes thornbirds and it still went ok when I was reving the piss out of it.. and then got put into a truck with 35 boggers and the thing went anywhere.. also standard tho.. I have no idea what they are like with an auto

Can't go wrong with a 302. Very hard to kill. You can make good power with them. I used to have a 92 F-150 ext cab with a 302 5spd, ran 35's on it and it still had good power.

my 302 has a pretty good nock in the bottom end when its cold, 15 min later, its gone and i run the living shit out of it all day....been doign that for over a year now, and ya, once you get the revs up they go ok, and sound good for a little thing as well, and a huge aftermarket for them

When I had my 5.0 in my BII before i put in the 351 I used the granada manifolds. Worked good. You can also get headers for the ranger v8 swap..Good luck[31]

my 302 went good enough with an auto tranny in it the stroker would be wicked to do i think its like a 347 or something not to sure.

10-16-2006, 07:18 PM
you can go almost 400cui (387 i think)

Not on a stock block you can't. Biggest I've heard of with a stock block 302 was 349 CI. My old man is running a 347 next year.
