Why does every one put lower gears inthe rear case? Can they be put in the front case? I would like to keep the normal low range and have a lower double low.

i dont think it matters which case they are in. just changes which shifters do what

it puts less stress on the second case if the lower case is the last one to receive power

ya i guess that makes sense, so the rear case isnt getting the torque from the 4.7s or whatever ratio is used.

Kinda makes sense, but it semes the same as having 4.7s in both cases or what ever ratio you go with.

[stupid]

It doesnt matter what case you put the gears in. You will still have access to your regular low range, as well as the double low. I have heard ppl would prefer the gears in the front box only because they want the 4.7 or 5 low in 2wd with only 1 shifter movement. But that is bunk if u ask me. Just move the other stick and save urself a twisted off rear input shaft.

dont forget you can also twin stick the rear t case............ giving you the option of regular low.... 4.7...... or double low in 2wd or 4wd... what ever u want.....
