10-06-2006, 07:40 AM
i knew it was coming when you were starting to sell the peices of the 2wd propane truck.

C'mon, throw up some specs.

I'd go with shorty headers for the fact they wont hang below teh frame rails like some do, so they wont get cuaght or thrashed on anything. I'd go dual 3'' with some quality mufflers, if you're above the 5k gvw, then just straight pipe it.

How much cam? What sort of heads? FI?

I agree with bigb, get a quaility tranny in there built before you put a bbc in. WHat kind of clutch?

10-06-2006, 09:06 AM
alright good on ya Dean [36] [36] [36] [cheers] Happy for ya man. :)

10-06-2006, 11:38 AM
tenpack.... we r gonna try a " low buck" build....edelbrock air gap performer, edelbrock carb, headers, msd ignition ( thanks chris) not sure on exact cam yet gonna use stock heads port an dpolish and re-valve, kinda goin by advice of friends....

10-06-2006, 07:01 PM
awesome, cant wait to see some parts come in. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

sounds like you got a pretty good start, your gonna love the power, I am in the 500hp club but the only real difference I did to mine was bore it out to 468cid, I found the best headers to use were dynomax ceramic coated I've had them for 2 years and still no rust after hardcore offroad use, plus the price is awsome compared to hooker super comps. the long tube headers give you a better spread of power and a huge difference overs stock, BUT I lowered my truck for better flex and it makes it real tight for the front driveshaft (actually rubs alittle under compression) and make for some tricky bends to get around the th400 and the dual transfer cases. but don't worry about hanging below the frame it happens right where the spings packs are so you would ruin your trans way before your headers. As for the trans a center force dual friction is maditory but be prepared for breaking everything if you love the throttle with manual trans, I seen a buddy with a big block and manual trans sheer his np205 input shaft, thats why I went with the th400 32 spline shafts plus the slipage in the torque converter saves dana 60 axles shafts from breakage. good luck with your build and we need to see some pics.

thanks for the heads up smitty.. already runnin the centerforce,,,,i'll look into the dynamax headers fer sure...

10-09-2006, 06:50 PM
i wouldnt run the eldlebrock carb...a few of my buddies had em, and hated them, they worked ok, but never got it to set up just right and always had jetting and mixture issues, i know their cheap compaird to a holley, and a holley need tuning more often but id say its worth the hassle if you wana build big power.....But i dont have any personal exsperince on my own vehicle, so just a thought to consider..
