im putting all that chevy stuff in my YJ (383, t400, 205, d60, 14bolt) and i was wondering how to fit it all in. do i mount the engine in the stock position or closer to the front. what should i do? i have a long drivetrain in a short jeep.

I would say more to the front to accomidate the distributor and a stubby water pump but then again i am just guessing my 2 cents [cheers]

Isn't the stock front shaft longer than the back? A TH400 is not short. I would move it all as far forward as possible.

definetly move the engine forward and depending on what your doing for the suspension you may want to extend the wheelbase

Mount the engine as far forward as you can but don't bother with the early style "stubby" water pump they don't give you much more clearance and they are hard to get pulleys and acc brackets for since they stopped using them in the early 70s
