Ok all you toyota people a friend is looking at a 2000 4 runner sr5. Full loaded
but it's an automatic.
I was under the impression that the SR5 was the denotion for the 5 speed full loaded or did they change this???
Thanks in advance

sr5 doesn't really mean anything. I've never found a pattern as to what the sr5 package includes. Usually it means fully loaded with the power options and nice seats, but I've seen bare bones sr5's as well as non sr5s with lots of options...[wako]

altho on the newer ones I think it usually indicates fully loaded

the newer SR5 toyota's is only a model package, pwr windows, locks, mirrors, tilt cruise, a/c, alloy whls. Options are leather int, sun rf. the fully loaded edition are the Limited. with all the above, pwr heated seats, and wheel flairs. and you pay approx 4K more. but i agree with Aaron on the earlier models. you could order an SR5 w/manual tranny back in 2000. but all "full Load" runners (limited's) are auto

SR5 USED to mean "Sport Rally 5 Speed" According to some people, but I think it's bull. My 1979 4x4 has the SR5 package and it came with a 4 speed originally, and the SR5 package was introduced in 1977. In the early days of the 4x4 Pickup a full SR5 package got you a radio, rear slider, fake woodgrain dash, Tach, oil pressure and battery gauge, carpeted bottom doors, bucket seats and console, but it's changed so many times there isn't a real standard I don't think. They obviously varied what a SR5 package meant even at the start because my truck has never had a radio, it doesn't have the SR5 sliding rear window or a 5 speed transmission. Hope that helps!

Oh and I also forgot, it got you a 3 spoke "sport" steering wheel as well with a rubber coated grip :)
