i wonder if they have been scouring the site again...

yea, just watch that now......what ever im sure they will be reading this so.....By the looks of those "de-activations" im sure you could drive across them, didn't looks that crazy.

But like the one guy said, Some of these offroader have been going up to Little White for 50 years and making this deactivation will only make it worse as they WILL make a trail around the "de-activation" killing even more forest.

Load of crap but, whatever

It has been designated park and closed to motorized vehicles for several years now I believe. Went up there in 2003, but no one enforcing it at that time.

Anyone know when/how it became designated? Was there ever a public meeting/hearing regarding it? Gotta hate when the enviro groups get together in secret meetings with the right government officials to set these "parks" up. Happening all the time.

[16] thats just sad.

Is little white itself part of their stupid park? we can build a trail up it from big meadow lake? that way you kelowna guys can still come up past chute lake and get to big white??

there is a hiking trail from that area to the top of little white we can comandeer[36]

probably turns the trip to little white into a full day trip tho, like probably 3 hours each way from gillard to the top

when i worked with katim ent.(just befor the big fire)we were workin on myra and little white.i asked if little white was off limits to bikes and trucks and glen(my boss) said"tachnicly it's been closed for a long time but at this time no."he also said they wernt planing on closing it.all the damage i saw up there in all the times i've gone up there is old.so it must have been some tree huggin hippys bitchin about the old damage.

Ok, so they deactivated the enterance. If you drive in there with a modified 4x4 how the hell are they going to come after your with there stock full size pickup to right you a ticket? If they can drive in there to patrol the area there must be a way to drive in there so....??

As some of you have heard and seen I not too long ago got back from a long wheeling expedition. Well mostly it was just checking out the kootneys, and wheeling in Alberta.

At any rate... Just south west of Calgary there is a designated HOV area. In this area off road vehicals are free to come and go. Perhaps it is time somthing similar be setup in the Okanagan? Like we are talking a big piece of land, with marked trails, and maps. Hell it would be no different than goin to Big White to ski! Think about it, carved up mountins for peoples amusment!. And they charge for this "constructive destruction!" It would be home to Bikes, Quads, Snomobiles, Trucks, etc.!!! Its would be even better if there was a snack / gas station sorta like "hub" for it. Obviously there would be general rules to govern dammaged vehicals etc... I think it would bring a whole new economic element to the Okanagan!

Granted that would make for a lot of OHV vehicals in 1 area, but the environmental impact would be minimal (as compared to what the treehuggers are goin by nowadays.)

It would be a lot of work. But I dont think there would be a problem finding people who wanted to help build / maintain it.

Just my 2cents

I have also put some thought into this idea. there is a few places in the US that have done it as well. The toughest part is getting an area designated, whether it is purchased privately or donated by the government.

I'm up for a night run. [15]

Seriously, I would. If we could get in and it was on a night that I don't have to get up in the morning, I'd be all for it.

I doubt the park yuppies would be out there at night.

Personally i wouldnt go to a Off road park. It takes all the fun out of it. Granted im not a mega mud bogger or rock crawler who would probably like the idea of building trails / pits to take their machines to the limit.

If you know whats around the next corner it takes the fun out of it. :(

Thats like putting clint eastwood in a lazer tag game. [16] Its not the shooting for some people, its the adventure.

each truck/driver likes it's own type of terrain. a trophy truck would be lost in most trails, but get it on the desert and watch em go!

most trucks are adventure built around here, and as such would be lost in a crawl where brakage and flopping is possible. for the rest, it's all part of the challange.

Well perhaps as a group it should be brought to the MLA's attention. Hell it is no different then when a city wants a new sports center. Let them do the leg work as to where etc...

I think there should be these types of areas scattered all over the province. And all properly marked. That way we have a place to go, and the amount of meadows being ripped up will be minimized.

I did notice a draw back to this idea though. Piggerz tend to hang out on city streets where these areas exits are. And they issue VI's like a mofo. Even I was stopped in my baby sized 4Runner!!! Like common, my truck aint that big... yet.
