The Q-State/Penzoil brands are owned and produced by Shell. They are some of the largest oil companys in the world!

All of the oils you see in Canadian tire [ FORMULA ] are also produced by SHELL.

Good products!
funny you say that...

canadian tire buys up a lot of "almost good enough " part/lubes...
example - ngk spark plug they sell the ones that dont make the cut the others do (they even have there own packaging)

and if there formula oil is the same quality why is it cheaper when oil is so competitive even at canadian tire:confused:

That isnt true it is made per spec.
It is a pretty simple concept . Canadian tire says i want these items made to this spec and this is what we are willing to pay. Very normal bussiness practice.

so how about we talk about what's good rather than what's bad. cheap no name brand usually means not that good.

i think mobil one is one of the first synthetics but maybe not the best. they are all probably pretty good. i used mobile 1 in all my gas vehicles.

It all comes out of the ground! Just stay away from the cheapest oils you find! And change them regularly.

I just get the cheapest shit I can find and change it regularly along with the filter each time.

oil is all made to meet a certain manufacture spec, so its not like cheap oil is going to do any damage

Being in the oil industry, here's my 2 cents.

ESSO:
Mobile, Exxon

Mobile is a very good oil, Speedy Lube & Mr Lube carry it.

XD-3, 15w40 for diesel

Esso Extra & Ultra are lower grades of oil compared to Mobil or XD-3
XD-3 also comes in syn.

Wal Mart sells Esso oil cheaper than we do at our bulk plant, why, because they buy millions of liters & get a volume price.

If you get your oil from Ford, Volvo, Detroit Diesel, it's all Esso.

When buying oil check the little circle with the mil specs & compare to other oils you are interested in.

Chevron 2 cycle oil is in my opinion the best .

Wal Mart oil is Penzoil.

Canadian Tire oil used to be Esso.

'76 oil is cheap & should be avoided, any major oil company has different grades of oil, price usually dictates the quality.

As for gas, if you live in the Okanagan, every gas station gets it's gas from the same place!
Petro - Can in Kamloops has the only load rack in the interior & everyone pulls out of it every since Esso shut theirs down this fall.

All the diesel you buy is now Ultra Low Sulpher. 5ppm, Low Sulpher was 1500ppm, & the oil diesel was 5000ppm.
It will be interesting to see how well injector pumps hold up after a while .

I'll check with the wife, she's an assistant manager there. Wal mart sells 20L pails of XD-3, 15w40 for $18 cheaper than we do at the bulk plant.

not to impressed with the low sulpher diesel ....no biggy for the new diesels but will probley F up the older ones eventually. gonna look into what additive to add in for pump lube, or maybe just some Veg oil.
