so ... one of the newest things i'm thinkin of doing is a Trekker body ...

I have a deal pending (shipping) of 2 1/2 trekkers in verious states of repair. 1 of em , my son and I am going to build (mostly him) for his 1st vehicle ...

the rest...
well , I will have a complete rear 1/2 to make fiberglass moulds from , so you could convert your 79-83 truck .. to a trekker (the first 4-runner)

what do you guys think ?

by the way
for anyone into the old yotas, i went last week to check out a 1972 hilux 2wd in rock creek and the lady would take 900$. it was a good truck but needs break work. would be sweet project for 4x4. ran good and no real rust!

the Trekker is the one that looks like a pickup with a canopy, but the cab is attached to the bed, right?

I built one out of my old Yota. They are awsome! There were 3 diffrent one made, Trekker, Trailblazer, and the Wolveriene (sp) Trekker was the only one to have a 3rd seat in it. Top is removeable after you break all the glue. Took alot of work to get it off. Was very light!

Only thing I regret is haveing gotten rid of it. Is it not amazing what you do for your family? [!] Exwife

Have only ever seen 3, one of which i parted out.
The f.glass was smashed and the rest of the truck was to rusty to save
With the amount of pickups with rusty boxes out there you might have a winner.

Now if you look really close at that truck you would knowtice that that is a steel box... [49] That is the reson for putting the trekker box on it [cheers] [5]

Hey i just had a thought, this isn't going to delay me getting my box is it?

Not a chance .. I'm slowly decreasing wait time for the "list" you might even get it earlier :)

well this sounds very positive ... I know there very popular , and very rare for a good one .. wolverenes and trailblazers even rarer ..

I worked at a dealer when these things first came out ... an they were all sold before they were delivered ... I know that lots of people never got theres , and maybe now they would buy one ...I think the conversion would be fairly popular .

depending on price I may be interested in one. You think there would be enough room in the box for something like a YJ rear seat so you could seat two kids? Then maybe I can convert my 1st gen, and part out the rusty runner.

slacker
09-08-2006, 06:32 PM
absolutly ... you'll be able to seat 2 very comfortably ... just likt the 4runner .

as far as price goes ... I have NO idea ... Yet ..

I have a "chop" gun , ($15G piece of equiptment) ... which is how the originals were constucted ... I put the gun into moth balls , because , well it has to be used everyday or well , management decision ... anyway ... depending on glass , trim .. all that stuff I have to figure out yet ..so I dont know yet ... I would venture a guess , and say with bed and canopy ... about the $2500.00 - $3000.00 area .

could you explain this too me again haha, so the box and cabnopy are one piece, and you would cut open the rear of your cab, or just leave it solid??

thats actually pretty reasonable assuming it will be the box & canopy for that price.

Might have to find a clean first gen toy for a daily driver in the next while

soon as I get em' here i'll get some better pics for ya ...

best I can tell ya ... is ... you'll cut out the rear of the cab , rienforce roof , and "B" pillar sections .. and install the rear "clip"
