Wow! What a trip! 4 days of quadding some of the most incredible country in this part of BC. Put on well over 400km on the machines in that time, ate like pigs and even had time for a few beers! :D

I met Wayne, Ryan and Speedy on Wednesday evening at the camp site after working most of the day, boss was awesome and let me take off early! [36] Got up Thursday morning by 6:00am to start the day early, itching to see the country!

Our camp right on the beach at Trout lake.

First run of the trip was up the Lardeau River, to the Silvercup Mine. The trail and remains of the mine were a let down, after reading up on the mine we expected some nice adits to check out. All but one were collapsed, and the trail ended before the alpine.

We ventured further east along the Lardeau and then turned south up Triune Creek to the trail from hell! This is the one I was spinning out on last year and gave up half way up. After putting on new mudlites up front on the Kodiak I figured it would be a cake walk. Was I wrong! Parts of that trail are so steep and loose it was all the 400 could do to make it up, throttle taped to the bars, and keep it from bouncing over the edge! Even with this method I managed to get stuck 3 times! At least no one bounced off the trail, it would have rolled to the bottom of the valley at least 800-1000 feet below! Speedy has pics of me stuck on the trail, hopefully he will figure out how to post them.

More pics from day one. On the way down from the Triune, Ryan managed to bend a tie rod, which a few seconds later broke/popped off the out tie rod end! All this on the steepest/loosest part of the trail! Nothing like doing a trail repair on the worst possible location! We limped it to the bottom and he headed to town for a new tie rod and end.

Meanwhile, the rest of us headed back down the north side of the Lardeau to try to find the Nettie L mine. This time the trail was much tamer, just a couple of narrow/steep spots. The highlight was finding an ancient steam engine and boiler! Have never seen one in the bush still, was pretty cool history to see.

I'M SURPRIZED AT HOW HIGH UP THE MOUNTAIN YOU GUYS WERE. DID YOU SEE ANY DEER SKULLS AND ANTLERS? DID YOU SEE ANY ANIMALS UP HIGH? THE OLD MINING CARTS AND BOILERS WERE REALLY COOL TO SEE.
