Well we went wheelin today. I foudn this area yeaterday and it is VERY promissing.

We made the loop, basically the core trail. it is very dificult for most, but its the rest of the area that is almost un passable.

I strongly feel your going to need 36+ tires lockers front and rear and a working winch. This trail has boulders EVERYWHERE. they are mostly covered in thick moss and you dont' realize they are there till your dif smash's into them. I woudl suggest that every vehicle MUST have a working winch not just one or two of the group.

There is a good amoutn of tough spots i didnt' even attempt this go around because i wanted to make sure there was a way in and out before i break my junk. There is no way to get out once your in.

Here's a vid. doesn't show much but its still is cool: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v280/Kraqa/trail%20pics/Katacombs/th_100_2300.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v280/Kraqa/trail%20pics/Katacombs/?action=view&current=100_2300.flv)

Kraqa
08-27-2006, 06:54 PM
I was the only one who completed it. The bottom gets very soft and i have to winch a couple of times. We will need a few more runs for the moss to clear off the rocksa and stumps. Plus there are abotu 10 difrent lines you can takew to make the trail harder. 10' slick rock drops. Tight squeeze 4' boulders. and a V crach that can be wreckoned with (Abotu 8' verticle climbe with a stump in the middle. There is tons more clearing to be done but for a first day and only 2 guys running/clearing it we did ver well.

It takes an estimated 30-60 min to run. depending on yoru crew, the lines you take and the vehicle capabilities. The trail went quike but the bottom required ALOT of winching. All the pics were taken before i drove over it. Hence the lack of tire tracks.

Thats possibly the silliest thing i've heard in a while. Thats just not possible, its basic physics. The outside dimensions of a mog are larger than a toyota, so how could it fit in places a toyota could not.

well poopy I've had the pleasure of owing many Toyota's, how many mogs have you driven to be able to differentiate. come on out one day. seeing is believing. you wont find it silly any more

So if 2 trees are 6'6 apart, your mog is about 7'wide, and a toyota is about 6' wide, how is that your mog will fit but the toyota wont? Thats what I dont get. And most of our trail accesability is dictated by width.

next time i'll lead man and you'll be surprised. there are some nasty manuvers that only a mog can pull of. there has been more than a few ocasions that toy guys started bitching because it got too tight.

Well im glad you are a "yoyuta" owner, but what the fuck does that have to do with this conversation? ABS drain pipe isnt really that strong, my 1.75" steel tube is plenty strong. Wheeling a 10000lb rig just isn't my thing.

mogs are used in the desert for a reason same with hummers[f]

yes the mog can push some trees and it has very very very low gearing but, when you facing old growth trees and zuki sized rocks that mog aint got shit

Poopy
08-29-2006, 12:19 PM
I have no doubt it does well, but I dont think it will go farther than my toyota, or fit into tighter places than me, that's all. But like the others said...if its so great....enter the cup!

first off, killer rig. I had to watch the vid twice cause i was concentrating on your rig the 1st time. Real nice, would be interesting in the rain.

The trail looks pretty slick with all that moss, looks like a fun trail.

mogs are pretty capable, i wouldnt be too quick to disown em. They got more gears than most drivers would know what to do with.
