As it turns out I have the Peugot POS 5 speed, no surprise. Would an automatic out of a Cherokee be a difficult swap or even a good idea or possible or should I start looking for an AX-15(think thats the good one)? [cheers] Lots of Cherokee parts around but no YJ's.

The overdrive auto out of the 4.0 Cher is not a viable swap for you they are a fully electronic tranny needing a computer to run it and the earlier 3 speed autos from the Cher won't bolt up to your engine.

The AX/15 is a good swap but requires the tranny, bell housing, clutch slave if it is an external style(94 and newer), tranny shifter, Tcase shifter, input gear for tcase (pugeot=BA-10 is 21 spline output AX/15 is 23 spline output), and the tranny skid plate.

Another swap that is reasonably easy is the NV 3550 5 speed out of the later TJ 4.0L I have not done this swap personally so I am not 100% sure what all you need for it but Matt at Jeap Thrills has done this one a couple times and would know what you need.

Thanks Mikey, thanks Matt...just going by what I read on Jeep forums, told ya on the phone I don't know shit..[15] . I am gonna run this tranny but just thinking about what would be the best upgrade, if it doesn't last. I don't intend to bash the shit outta it so maybe it will be good for a long time. I hope so. [cheers]
