Well after a long drive to Beton We found our camp site commandeered by the forestry department for refueling helicopters because of a large fire across the lake. So we camped just up the road in a dust bowl so we could be close to watch the helicopters coming and going when we wernt quadding.....

Beaton is just off the arrow lake ferry after Revelstoke.I can never remember the name of that ferry but it is the first left that you can take after you get off it. its about 15k before tout lake

The first pics with the helicopters are where Beaton used to be. Now under water like many other small turn of the century towns after the Hugh Keenleyside dam was built in the late '60s which formed the now Arrow lakes.

The buildings are at/around Camborne I believe? John? Another old townsite which relied on the mining in the nearby mountains. Machinery is from the top of Mohawk creek, a great ride on quad, which John told me is now turning into an easily accesible road for future mining. Too bad, it was an awesome ride to the top last year.
