Waterproof matches, and a candle or parafin waxed cardboard in an old tin can are good. A large plastic garbage bag that can be used as a rain poncho, or quick little shelter if you do get stuck somewhere like Warlord mentioned.

A first aid kit isn't a bad idea, to have in your truck car all the time.

one thing I've noticed is that jeep guys have more inventory of parts in their trucks than a jeep dealer.

i say it depends how hardcore youre gonna go...or how far you are from civilization. must haves for me are hi-lift, tug strap & shackles, basic wrenches & sockets. if you plan on breaking your shit, extra parts for sure. aand for your ifs (have you fixed your axle yet?) a 35mm socket with a big ass breaker bar, spare cv(s). actually the 35mm socket is for ADD...i think your runner has manual hubs. so spare hubs as well...

toyota hubs dont really break. no need to pack them around.

It sounds like alot of stuff but it all fits into a small tote in the back of my jeep. It all started with " Will I need this ? " if you don't bring it you will. Driving with a brake line pinched off really sucks so I bring an old one, running on 7 cylinder sucks so I bring a spare wire and plug, busted a hub before so I bring my spare used one, belts get eaten so....... etc.

Knowing you can get yourself out of the bush, priceless.
