Well today the build has finally started. I said goodbye to the rusted out frame rails and hello to some 1 7/8", 1/8" wall pipe. Today i only started to bend the main rails. I am going with a 1 link in the rear and a 3 link up front, with both using xj lift coils. I will share more later, for now enjoy the pics :)

oh and when are ya swapping in the diesel??

Rx7_Rudy

The axles are all nice and straight, they are also from a landcruiser.

I am not going to swap the SD22 diesel in it anymore just because the adapter costs way to much. But the nissan has a divorced transfer case so i might ghetto rig up a dual transfer case system.

The rear half of the frame was basically one big whole lol It was pretty ugly. But from the back of the cab forward its suprisingly clean.

what is the spline count on the landcruser birfs?

Big_Ern
07-31-2006, 03:04 PM
except for FJ80 they're the same axle as the trucks & 4runners -- FJ80 is bigger

StinkFinger
07-31-2006, 04:55 PM
eraly 40s are corse spline the latter ones are the same birf as a pickup

fj60's are definetly different

Ill Check the birf spline count when i pull the axles out to put in my 3rd's.

I learned today that bending tight 90 degree corners with my shitty little pipe bender is an extreme pain in the ass.

Also i finaly figured out my steering system, I am going to use a fox body mustang power rack (sits behind the axle). I will be able to use the stock steering arms flipped around with a little bending. This means i would have to go with a radius arm front suspension so the arms wouldn't be moving differnt to the axle if that makes sence. But seeing the massive amount of flex a fellow on the sight had with a radius arm set-up on his sami, im not to worried about lost suspension travel changing from a 3 link to a radius arm set-up.

umm how are you planing to attach the power rack to the stearing shaft?
sounds complicated, but good to see someone thinking outside of the box

I have a box of thoughs little steering shaft U-joints. If it doesn't work i guess i could always go with a high steer kit. But being the poor 17 year old i am, that would take a big chunk out of my limited supply of money lol

i have seen that around town, always look at it and laugh at the box all rusty and cut up

looks like a neato project

I only had it licensed for 1 day in kelowna, there is another one that looks exactly like it though.

I am trying to deside what design of flatdeck i am going to build. I have pretty much narrowed it down to 2. Here are some pics of each: (i only have one picture of the second box but it shows the idea)

sweet man, what ya doin with the stock axles??

Rx7_Rudy

havn't desided yet, why are you looking for a set?

i always know suzuki people lookin :D.

oh and the radius arms can be made to have even more flex then what i had there.

Rx7_Rudy
08-05-2006, 09:56 AM
Well if your looking for an extra set and would be intrested in trading some radius arm work for the axles that could be aranged :)

from the cab forward on that truck is new because they hit a moose in it and it was redone then the truck just sat. if it is actualy kosos truck. i remeber when it hppened. they live next door. looksgood man glad to see someting happening to it.

Was the engine ever rebuilt? Because for a truck with that high of gas milage it would spin the tires in first and second on pavement with 31" tires and stock gears.

kamloopsyota
08-05-2006, 11:00 PM
hey, enough talkin, get back to work. did you keep the 5.29's???

Rx7_Rudy
08-06-2006, 11:29 PM
yup i still have the 5.29's i think im going to use em if they fit in the new axles.

Also i just found out the nissan sd22 to toyota transmission bellhousing kit is only 325$ US. So i think a diesel is going in her now too.

kamloopsyota

Toy Diesels are hard to find. I've been looking for one for awhile now that is complete enough to make it work. thr truck looks nice, I'm trying to finish one now that I've been working on for a couple of months. I finally just threw in the towel and put a 20R in that I had laying around.
