kamloopsyota I think the wavy pattern ones are the Michelin XML. the size that 78bronco is looking for is 12.5/20 (335/80/20). that's a really common size but not really available in surplus form so has to be purchased new. took me 8 months to purchase a pair of Michelins so they are kinda hard to get. on the other hand continental mpt 80 and mpt 81 are great tire and can be purchased easily. they are cheaper than Michelins too. I personally like the look of the Michelins better.

any links to theses Continentals? they used to be far pricier then the Michelins
in the Michelins it is a 14 or 14.5 XL that is the one to get, lighter, around 43"

just to clarify to the origonal poster, you will need 20" rims to run a military tire bigger then 39"

My Brother bought some Michelin X's from Kal tire But he had to jump through some loop holes to get them. He had to have permission from the miltary in order to purchase them or Kall tire had to get permission to sell them to him .
All I know for sure is that they were super expensive but they performed awesome. You could run them on like 5 psi which made them real good for the Island rock crawl.

Try Kroy tire in Winnipeg. I know they have all kinds of used militaries. You just have to have them shipped. They have pretty good prices last time I checked. www.kroytire.com

Locally? Where?

I asked at a couple tire shops today and all I got was blank stares. :(
