AMC 360 into that thing wont be easy. I imagine it prolly came with a 2.8L GM v6 so the only thing that will bolt in is a GM 2.8 or 3.4 out of a rear wheel drive vehicle. Anything else and you'll be fabbing mounts, plus the rad support might need modifications to get a V8 in there as they've got the rad set back a ways.

not bad i can make everything at work so its all good but im thinking of just buying a old strait 6 and rebuilding it cuz it will drop right in just ahve to move the rad forward so it should be easy

Not quite!

Firstly, you're gonna need a lot of parts:

4.0 (to rebuild or w/e) - complete (header, intake, sensors, TB, etc etc)
Tranny for the 4.0 (AW4 and wiring, OR an AX-15 or BA-10/5)
Might as well get a Tcase, NP231 or 242 as the early 207s blow (get the whole drivetran mated together, a lot easier that way)
Rad/rad support from a 4.0 XJ
Hood Release from a 4.0 XJ
Wiring harness from a 4.0 XJ
Fuel pump from a 4.0 XJ
A FSM

And a SHIT LOAD of time.

Unless you want to not run the 4.0 FI. Which I would recommend. The Renault/Bendix FI in the early 4.0s is kinda cool, and reasonably reliable, but requires a lot of wiring and vacuum lines. The Chrysler FI (HO 'hoho' motors) is annoying and over-rated, and requires a whole bunch of wiring and vacuum lines...

Dude your are better off finding an S-10 with a 4.3, throttle body as much power as the 4.0 and a muck cleaner swap into the Jeep.
