View Full Version : front locker
so ive gotten over caring if i roll my truck and i have the steel at my house to build my roll cage when i get around to it, sooo i wanna be able to go anywere and want to lock the front diff to help me get there
what kind of options do i have?
can i just weld it up? and if i do am i gonna start breaking more stuff that way?
dont weld the front unless its only going to see dirt, if you want to be able o drive it around town (dd) you might want to invest in a selectable locker, air/electric

weld it all around, front and rear, when your on pavement it doesn't matter hubs aren't locked, when your wheeling you'll biuld up all your arm and shoulder muscles from trying to turn.oh yea if your backs welded keep your corners wide your rear tires will last longer.

what is it, first of all?
well since i posted in the suzuki part i think that narrows it down a tad :P
its an 85 samurai
and it has a rear spool in it, so i know about tire scrub and wear already
so ive got one saying weld and one saying not to
im no further along than i was befor :(
any more opinions?
weld it if it blows up chuck yota stuff under it and never worry again
yea....but money dosent grow on trees were i come from
soo id like somthing slightly reliable
if welded is just gonna end up breaking and casuing problems then thats not what i want and ill go another route, but if it works fine then ill be all over that like a fat kid on cake

stock axles? How big of tire?
yes stock axles, 33" tires

stock axles and 33's welded up and your axleshafts will be pooched.
If you were running 31" with welded front you MIGHT get away with it.
I have heard of a one but cant remember the name, sorry. But TO has a soft locker he likes, ask him.

not even fucking close. i anihilited tracker rear shafts with a welded rear and 31's. but i have a habbit of driving up trees though...
don't weld teh front you'll hate the lack of turning.

just weld it u pussy :)

Dont weld the front, if yuour looking for something reliable, just leave it open. Spooled rear and 7psi will get you basically anywhere you need to go. If you need to lock up the front you may want to look at a toy axle swap.

i would throw in a lock right and some BREEZE birf rings should last awile the lack of turning radius is'nt such an isue in a zuki because there so short what kind of 33 are you running if its a basic mud terain you should be fine if you go for a locker dont be cheep get the one with the new side gears
