so... steerings in. I got everything clearanced and its all good.

so i turn the wheel lock to lock. Thge steering box is maxing out before the stops on the knuckles hit the stopers. So, not a big deal, turn out the steering stops until the knuckle kits before the box max's. Wait, the bolts are long enough to be turned out all the way ( have to go ot about an inch on either side). Thats not a big deal, ill jst take them out and put in longer bolts and call it a day...

FUcking Bolts are welded to the knuckle. Both Sides. Try to take one off, and it shears off right below the head of the bolt. Didnt even try to move the other one...

WTF do i do now? Zip cut them and use an easy out? that will work like a ford... horribly...

WTF CAN I DO???[27] [27] [27] stupid little problems[27]

weld a nut to the end of the bolt thats sheared off

but the bolts are weak and brittle... if i do that and try to remove them it will just break off again...

i already thought of that

try a bit of movit and us a little heat to draw the lube in, we do this to get most rusted bolts out

turn the wheel to full lock and then measure the distance to the stop or knuckle mount. then just weld a piece of small tube slightly longer overtop of the broken bolt. Who says there has to be the bolt there. Any stop will do.

but these arnt just rusty there welded to the knuckle

[!][!][!][!][!] On people who weld steering stops to the steering knuckles

that is true i could just cut them off flush and pull out the welder...

the factory welds them IIRC

sounds like your pitman and steering arm lengths are not matched

Whe not weld the busted one back on and put on a longer piman arm so you can actually turn. When I had my ford d60 in tlc I put wheelstudds in where the original bolts were, which I removed by grinding the welds off first, but the wheelstuds were the only things I could find with the right thread and long enough. My problem was that my offset wasn't enough and the tires were rubbing the springs. It was a cheap fix, but the turning radous sucked.

cut your pitman arm weld a beer can in there for some extra length make sure you get halve steel halve aluminum rod or it wont work

but he already hass a drop he just needs extra length so i think the beer can will work if the diamiter is to large try a red bull can there smaller

You could try to drill and extract it, but if there is some weld remaining, you will probably break the extractor. Then you will need a die drill.

You might want to just drill and rethread it. Maybe oversize it if there is lots of material in the area. If you centerpunch it accurately, you could drill it out and chase the pieces out of the existing threads with a tap. What size are the bolts that broke?

this is tricky but probably your best bet
