My 91 SideKick is black and has Zero rust, I want to paint it OD Green and do a camo job on it. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I don't want it to Rust.

Can I get away with scuffing the paint hand bomb primaring it and hand bombing it OD Green, I am gonna hand Bomb the camo in Flat black anyway....will it look awful....what is my best bet for 300 to 400 bucks, can it be done.

yup no primer

scuff with 400, then run over it again with a scotchbrite, pay attention to the edges by mouldings an glass, thats where it will peel if not sanded

you can do a nice paint job with the rattle cans for like 20-30$ man, save the rest of the cash for somethin else.. it just gets scratched and fucked up anyways, ... easy paint fixes yea!

if you do have any bare metal surfaces it may be wise to spray on a bit of that zinc chromate primer before spray bombing the colour on. you can get this stuff at crappy tire in a spray bomb and sprays on transluscent yellow. doesn't have to be sprayed on heavy either. the purpose of this stuff is rust inhibiting and promotes adhesion between surfaces. a good investment for about 10 bucks a can which is usually plenty for a whole vehicle.

before spraying anything make sure the surface is scuffed down with at least a 320-400 grit. even better, use the red scotchbrite pads. best bang for your buck. they last longer and get into hard to reach corners n stuff.
