im thinking about buying and 85 or older toyota. i know the 85s are fuel injected and before 85 they arnt. if i bought a toyota without fuel injection how hard is it to swap in a 22re? or would it just be a headache to do and just wait for an 85 to come up for sale?

ya can just swap the heads and do the wiring if you want
tons of good writeups on how to do it.

if you get a complete RE engine and harnes it can be done pretty quick, I have a harness from an 88 runner in my formerly carbed 85 and the hardest part was taking the whole dash apart to put the harness in, everything else is just plugging stuff in. If you have an 83 or older then it gets a bit tougher because the rest of the electrical will need to be spliced in as the plugs are a different style. For those trucks it's almost easier to do like Ern said and get a head and computer from a celica and splice it into your stock harness.
