so ive been asked to help a buddy find teh noise and fix it his front end of a 97 grand cherokee. a vehicle ive never worked on before.
xj, right? a d30 front end?
being a full-time system, does this thing go together like a normal axle? i suspect the hub and wheel bearing are one big sealed unit as apposed to the hollow spindle with a shaft in like everythign else. is this correct? are there any tips i should know about? whats the hub nut size? thanks

The 97 Grand is a ZJ actually the XJ is the little cherokees the frt diff uses wheel bearings like a frt whl drive car the sealed bearing and hub assembly other than that it is still the same as a regular frt diff. The nut on the end of the axle is a 36mm or 1 7/16 fits loosely the hub bolts are 13mm 12 point.

theres a noticeable howling sound comming from up front.like what youd get from worn spindle bushing/bearings (but it cant be that) sounds to be the pass side, but i havent looked into it much. wheel bearing, mabye the diff.
