View Full Version : 350 V8 RPM Range

I Finally picked up a Tachometer for my '76 GMC 1/2 ton with a 350 on Propane. I was wondering what ya'll think a safe RPM range would be for this engine. ie: where should I set the redline.

Thanks in advance!

I run mine between 3000 and 3500 and it seems to be alright

well your not gonna hurt it spinning up to 5000rpm, drive it hard, figure out where the power starts to fade off and you feel like you have to shift, and set the tach at that(my mustang will pull hard to 6250 where the rev limiter comes in, but it feels best if i shift at 5500) basically just drive the piss out of it and see where it likes to shift. no point in spinning to 7000rpm if your not making any more power than at 5000.

do what dean does !

Put a shift indicator lite on and use that as your dash lites !

If it is mostly stock 5500 is about all the steam your gonna get out of it probably a little less than that actually but the bottom end will hold out to 5500 no prob.
