hey you guys, i am looking for some advice. i am building up a 350tbi and putting a sm465 in my jeep; for a t case i'm thinking of going with a dana 300 since it is smaller/stronger and can be flipped and twin sticked. getting rid of the 4cyl, 5sp, 231 and the stock axles.

I think Nutbar runs the 465 and 300 case, anyone else? what kind of adaptor will be needed to get these to bolt up? Hoping for a cheaper solution than advanced adapter or novak

the sm465 i have is from a early 80's truck that had a 208 bolted up to it, i will have to doublehceck but it thinks its the long 32 spline output from the trans.

Hey Victor

Yeah I run the short 465 - 10 spline to Dana 300 in mine and Johny "Jeepnut" runs the same one as me I believe that the adaptor set that I run (it is the Advance one) is somewhere around $700 for the kit. It would be the way I would go I think I have a core tranny with the 10 spline mainshaft that could be used to change yours to the short output, the shorter the adaptor set you run the better the rear driveline angle you can get.

thanks Mikey and Johny. looks like the kit is the way to go then. my next question before i go find a 300 and buy the kit is there any benifit to going with a 205 tcase instead of the dana 300? the 205 can be twin sticked, has crappy 4low but a 4:1 set might be about the same cost as a 465 to d300 adapter. is the 205 longer and heavier than the d300 making it less desirable? both have a cast case and are pass drop. i am more than likely going with a d300 but just wanted to be sure my money is going into the right parts.

thanks [cheers]

Mikey and I both twin stick our 300's...Well mikey twined it for me[36].....if your going to go this far with it you should look at the 4-1 kit for the 300 works well

Doesn't a 203 bolt right to a 465? then you could go 203 205 doubler and you would be set.

I run ford parts in mine so I am not much help.

Did you guys remove the interlock pins? So you can get Front wheel drive low range?

i thought about the doubler and might be too long but i havn't read up on that setup alot. I would like to extend the wheelbase about 5 or 6" and that would help with a doubler setup but also just help in general stability and driveshaft angles.

On the Dana 300 you don't have to remove any interlock pins to get the frt wheel drive out of the tcase all you have to do on them is the twin stick.

Unless you can get the 203 to bolt right to the back of the 465 ( I don't think chev had a set up like that I think they always had a long adaptor between them ) then that combo is to long to fit the jeeps.

I would go TPI 350 to NV4500 to dana 300 with 4 to 1 and twin stick, if I had $$$
