Anyone in PR have any knowledge on engine swaps? Anybody have any suggestions on the best swap? Theres always a 350 but the fuel economy would be pretty bad. Info would be great, thanks guys.

Hey, I'm from Powell River. You have the '89 Yj with the 4.2. If you can find a 4L out of an XJ it is a lot better than the YJ engine.

4.0's a good motor, injected as well, and chillwack pick a part has a few rows of XJ's.. I have heard however, a 5.0 will bolt right in to your tranny. some engine mount mods and gettin the computer for it is neccessary. And from what I've been learning, bigger horsepower, you'll have to get some stronger axles, mikey reccomends d44 front out of a full size 4 door cherokee, and a 8.8 out of an explorer, or rear out of a scout i think. 8.8 had diff lugs sizing so you'd have to replace a few axles to match up. the list goes on, better just listen to harley and grab a 4.0 out of a rokee, lol..

no the ford will not bolt directly to the jeep tranny you were told wrong Jim the only V8 that will bolt to the jeep 6 cyl tranny is the AMC V8s ( 290, 304, 343, 360, 390, 401)

the "easiest" swap would be a 4.0 yj engine because the frames and bodys never really changed on the yjs so everything for it is bolt in no real modifications necessary.
