today i was up at stave and i heared a noise coming fomr the engine area. it sounded like and bearing was blow somewhere so i drove home and on the way home the noise got louder and i pulled over and it seems to be that the bearing in my power steering pump is gone and it was leaking some fluid through there. if anybody happens to know what i am tlaking about and has any info on how bad it is to replace any information would be great. oh yeah its on a 97 jeep tj 4.0L. thanks for any info

It will be easier to get a used pump and put it on

so my best bet is to head out to garys and buy a used pump. would you know how much they would go for?

I don't think I have any pumps to fit the tj 4.0 but it should be in the 50 to 75 dollar range.

You said there's a leak, so you sure its the bearing and not just the pump whining because its low on fluid?

nope theres plenty of fluid , it mkaes like the blow bearing noise and then it clicks and there is alot of play on it when the belt is off.
