It would depend on where the damage is.

If it is in the front=brakes no good

If it is in the rear=brakes good

talk to someone that knows people at a parts store , I got the full rear brake set up drums, shoes, spring kit , everything in there including the lines for $130 , maybe $20 more than a wrecker and its brand new

Price of old brake parts ... $91
Price of new brake parts ... maybe $130

Price of your family and innocent people around you's safety ... i guess not priceless in this case. [16]

how many of us buy a used axle and don't change out teh pads or rotors.

if it's in good shape why mess with it. but if you are going to do the work twice just to save a few bucks.... that's just dumb

I can see buying the brake calipers but I highly suggest buy new brakes. I wouldn't use old ones

no these where new pads, the truck had been in a axident soo he must have just done the brakes and then crashed it, plus the guy gave me the pads for free.

I always put new brake parts on used axle installs it's purely a safety issue I wouldn't want myself or a customer to have an accident just to try to save a couple of bucks on the install, new parts no headaches and I sleep better at night.

I went back and took the back brakes apart they also had new shoes so I took those and 2 emergency brake cables and a brake line, also got the plate that the battery sits on because mine was rusted. All for $40. Then went to lordco and got new cylinders. Now I gota put it all on my truck this week end.
