I just got back from a 1 1/2 hour drive each way to pick up some diffs for my XJ. When I got there I was surprised to see the D30 front end had CV joint half shafts in it! I thought all of these used normal u-joints? Needless to say I was not interested in paying $300 for a set of diffs with these weak joints in them. To boot, the right CV boot had been torn open for months and was full of dirt/water! $200 for a reman axle from Chrysler! I told him I would give him $150 for them, hoping the carrier with 3.73's would fit into my '90 D30, but he thinks they are worth more then that! [16] He will be holding onto them for a while methinks!

Those completes from Bill are lookin better every day!

That dif was most likely out of the earlier ZJ Grand Cherokee with the full time t case

Nope! It was in a 2dr XJ Cherokee with a Disco front diff!

Did the ZJ Grands use CV joints on the half shafts? I want to stay away from them in my search!

Yup they did..... My 93 has cv joints right now, and its an alltime 4wd t-case..... pretty soon it will all get swapped out though, and then back to 4x4in it goes haha
