Question for Nutbar or anyone else who knows..
Who makes a kit to change the bolt pattern for the d44 driver drop axle for an 81-84 Wagoneer D44 axle? i assume its 6 bolt but not too sure. i want to get something stronger than the d30 upfront.
is it worth it or should i keep the d30 up front.. future plans SOA and an 8.8 swap.. if i can get the 5.5 pattern for the d44 i will get new shafts for the 8.8 to match.. just tossing some ideas around, the d44 would need to be re-geared and purchase price is $250

You can do 3 bolt patterns on the D44 with locking hubs ...
5 on 5.5
6 on 5.5
8 on 6.5
If it was me I wouldn't worry about changing the frt to 5 on 5.5 I would just buy after market custom axles like Dutchman for the 8.8 with 6 on 5.5 like the wag diff is already and yes you can put 6 on 5.5 axles in the Exploder 8.8 have done it already a couple of times.

I think it is 76 or 75 and prior Chevs or Jeeps for the flat top right hand knuckle and all Chevs, and 76 or 75 and prior Jeeps for the flat top left hand knuckle. Side note if you are going to use the stock tie rod position know that the jeeps mount the tie rod on the top of the arm cast with the knuckle and chevs mount the tie rod on the bottom of the arm so the tapered holes are machined opposite for Chev to Jeep

I beleive there was also a 5 on 4.5 with some dodges wasn't there...? It was a sealed hub setup though, with an axle disconnect maybe.... Not 100% sure... but, i think i remember coming across one in a junk yard when i was doing my waggy front.

Yes Dodge did have a 44 with 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern but it has no locking hubs and a unitized wheel bearing assembly like a frt wheel drive car and that diff is garbage not worth its weight in scap metal.

Hmmm. I thought they were out there... I imagine like you said they are crap...
Is it possible i wonder for this guy to re-drill a 6 or 5 bolt hub to take the 5 on 4.5 pattern ?
maybe easier just to re-drill the 8.8 axle shafts and drums when the time came.

Hubs on the D44 frts are to large to drill for 5 on 4.5
axle flanges on Exploder 8.8 are to small to drill for 5.5 in bolt patterns
easiest to do is order Dutchman axles for the 8.8 with 5.5 in bolt patterns and redrill rotors or drums on the 8.8 have done this swap many times.
