ok,, the original problem with reeces truck,, is fixed,, i kept telling him it was teh o2 sensor,,,,, but does he listen??? NOOOOOO tool.....
oh well,,,,

ok,, now it is running great,, idles perfect (little high though), good power,, smooth,,, but when you shut it off,, and try to start it again,, liek after you go jnto the store or somthing,,, it runns weird,, nothing like the old problem,, but still sommthing is wrong,, the idle drops down low, little rough, it also when you drive it,, the valves rattlke a little,, and it pings a little,, no power,, and it feels like it is bogging,, and teh check engine light comes on,, and then goes out,, so i cant get an active code out of it,,, without a computer,, i hope the mac guy shows up with the cable i need today...

but,, the original problem is fixed... SO WHAT THE FUCK IS FAWKING WRONG NOW???   piece of shit truck.... drives nice when it works though....

sounds like a emmision related problem

besides the o2 sensor

gauranteed....either faulty wiring (corrosion ) or grounding
or poor vac on a related emmisions device.

seting the check light then clearing it self

typical obd11 and obd1 if a sensor is triggered 3x it will be retained...

being that rattling and pining is the timing going to shit as the tps senses throttle change something else aint working in conjunction driving it causes the short...

does it have a vss?

what about maybe the detonation/ping sensor? ?

if the knock sensor wasn't working it most likely would go into limp mode and retard the timing, so he shouldn't be hearing knocking.

Unless it somehow failed so that it always thinks its good??

well,, i hope its not the knock sensor,, its under the lower intake manifold,,,
and it does seem to be going into limp a little,,, today on my way home from work in reeces truck,, it had good power,, the an of a sudden it did some funny shit,, stalled,,, then ran fine,, bt less power and lower idle,, but no pinging... so probley is teh knock sensor,,, but the o2 definetly did a huge improvment,, it needed it for suire.....

I had the same problem before and also changed the the o2 sensor,
it worked better but still had simaler problems[27]
Lordco would not replace the sensor for me so I put a differant one from a scrap yard, 5 buck experiment and it worked great no problems since and that was almost a year ago.
I don't know if the problem was after market verses oem or just a defective
new one from lordco but it was the best 5 bucks I ever spent.[stoned]

i wonder if it is a faulty o2 sensor,,, it works fine untill youy turn it off,,,
or teh knock sensor,,, im guinna double check the plug top teh knock sensor,, ake sure it didnt get pulled off,,, but teh truck should be going to davis troday or toorow,, when ever he is leaving,, im just waiting for parts from lordco to put into this pile of shit....

but it still has low compresion,,,, so reece is getting a new motor,, SO HURRY UP AND GET THE MOTHER FUCKER...

be sure to check the wire on the knock sensor too. it often gets brittle and break off down where you can't see it...

dexter302
03-24-2006, 04:34 PM
i couldent see it,,,

when he gets back from teh davis trip,, i shoul d just replace it,,, but its a bitch to get to,,, and he is getting that new engine with better compresion,, so i will leave it up tp him.....

i still suggest upgrading to a 4 cyl engine,,, 22re,,,, lol

2 questions for you....

- is your antifreeze level ok? If any antifreeze gets into your combustion chamber I hear that fowls O2 sensors....???

- does your truck have AC on it? If so there is a lil electric over vaccume operated diaphram that will raise the idle a bit when the AC is running. If this has defunked on ya that might be a possible cause to the wonky idle rate.

when you pull a distributor out and just throw it back in is gonna cause a shitload of problems.

will update when it's not so fucken hot out.

antifreeze is good, no ac. start over with timing and move on.
