So I'm probably got to swap the gears out in the cruiser diffs.
the diffs are a 77 fj40 and the gears a 3.77 will i be able to use the same carriers for something like 5.13 or is there a limmit to these axels and or carriers:D

Toy mini truck/4runner carriers are the same no matter what gears. FJ40s are almost identical so I'd imagine they are the same.

it will work as long as you drive like an old lady other wise you just shear pinions off like i do with 35 boggers and 300 hp

What size cruiser diff. is it, some are a 8 inch and some are the 9 1/2, from what i have seen theres a lot more selection of gears for the 8 inch.

FJ40 is still an 8"

I think only FJ80's were 9 1/2". Bigger birfs as well.

not sure acording to the parts listing both front and back are 9.5" in the landcruisers 64-89

the 90- 98 had a 8" front and a 9.5" rear
but it didn't actually give me the option to chose over a fj 40 or 45 or 80

interesting... I was always told that the FJ80 was the only one with the bigger axle.

Because a lot of mini-truck guys swap in HP cruiser diffs w/ e-lockers etc

If you goto longfields site http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/ it shows the standard birf working on 79-85 p/u & 4runners, and '76+ landcruisers & FJ60s. And they give a seperate birf for FJ80s.

so thats why I assumed only fj80s were bigger. Also when you get highsteer it uses FJ80 TRE's since they're bigger as well.

My FJ 45 comes with 9 1/2 inch ring gear and most FJ 80's are actually a 9 1/4. There are also FJ 40's equiped with both. You should be able to read the axle code from either the firewall or the door jam. If you read the number beside where it says axle:, I can look up the code for you.
