reeces truck is a sad sad truck....

ok,,, finnally had some time to work on it.....

results are,,,,, commpresion test,,, 90-95 psi on all cyl's dry...

wet 120-125.....
is'nt a dead cyl; at 80 psi???

book says minimum is supposed to be 142 psi.. normal is 170 psi...

so reece wants a 350 in it now... so..... he wants dual t cases to have a stupid low crawl ratio. (keep toyota trans and transfer i think he said)

but i figure the th350 with a np208 or a 700/208 with the 4.10's hes got,,, in low range will be pretty slow wont it???

sas is also in teh works...

so will it be a good slow speed ratio with a np208 with 4.10's on 33's now,, but i assume he will be getting 35-36's at least,,,,, i dont think he needs anything bigger then a 36...

if your gonna put a v8 in it, you should consider a second gas tank.

doesnt matter if he has a different idea every week,
as long as he uses one of the ideas and gets his truck back on the trails[cheers]

With V8 I would change diffs too, and like redline said, a bigger gas tank. and rear mount the rad and battery.

i have a small block, 700/208 going to toy axles with 4.37 gears the few timesive had it out it seems to work good as a combo

you don't need a 350 in a toy. If you do you'll need 1 ton running gear.

if you're gonna use chevy crap a 4.3 fits in there real nice. And I know where you can get a whole truck for $1000 '92 jimmy with a 4.3 vortec.

anything more than that and a toy axle will not survive with 36s & a locked front. I don't think o-fields or smurfs would survive a v8 with crawl gears either. You could go with the 30spline chromo longs, but then your weak link become the hub studs and r&p. Its just not worth it to run a v8 with toy axles if you actually want to wheel.



I'm sure next week he'll be selling it again though, so why did I bother to type all that? [wako]

i told him 4.3 will be just fine,, you dont need tons of power in a crawl rig,,, just good gears....
4.3 will be lighter a little aswell.... and better on gas,,, with teh prices the way they are,, 350 would be expensive..

just buy a new ride there is an 85 toy dual t case 4.1 sitting onm 36's with full exo cage locked in the rear for less than $9.

Or find a 3.4 toy motor to put in bolts right up

yup. Even a 22re is plenty for crawling. There isn't one time where I've wished for more power crawling yet. It would be nice to have for the logging roads and highway to the trails, but I'm also running stock 4.37 gears with 36s

An early Vortec bored .30 over with a Comp cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, and a Demon carb will produce 220 hp with 275 ft\lbs of torque at something like 2650 rpm. I have a link at work to a magazine that built one, it didn't drop below 250 ft\lbs till like 4500 rpm. They were going to do it again with fuel injection, but I didn't read that far. Anyways, if you can get over 200 hp out of a V6, why bother with a V8?

theres lots good trucks out there depending on what u want...

sexy...buy a blazer like mine...

works good...buy a pickup and do a bryson to it...or maybe just a litle lift and like 35's...andys got the lift for shit sakes..

or..

buy a zuki and kick the shit out of it all day...then burn it and buy a chev..

just not a nother toy with a 3.0 in it man...

trevs was a peice of garbage (just the engine) (and im not bashing ur truckj trev u know the engine wa sgarbage)

IMHO,

22re, basic rebuild (RELIABILITY!), Dual Cases (OTT or Marlin), SAS, 53" Chevys in the Rear, do whatever in the front, Marlin High Steer, 5.29 R&P, o-fields, Weld or Detroit rear, e-locker front, 35" Boggers.

Learn your truck, learn how to "crawl" it, how it flexes, where the weight is, COG, etc.

One you have learned the new truck which will be about a year and a bit of actually getting out. 37" or 38" of your choice of tires (you will know what you want by that time), and a 4.7 gear set in the t-case.

You will be able to go most everywhere and have mucho fun doing it. Going straight into a crawl box can be to much. You definately need to learn the truck with the SAS, WAYYYY different of a feeling.
