the stock tank fits sideways in between the frame rails.

Or I have heard the rear gas tank out of an econoline fits real nice at the back where the spare would usually go underneath. I think its out of an E250, but I'm not sure on the years. Search on Pirate for econoline gas tank and you'll find some write-ups on it.

get a fuel cell and put it half above and half below the deck, so there is still room for link arms if you go to coils or something

im running a dodge carvan tank behind the rear axel. it will be tight up against the botton of the flatdeck. , i havent finished plumbing all the lines yet but it seams farly simple so far.

run it side ways under the deck works great.

didn't realize you put your there chad. How far below the frame does it hang?

I'll have to take a good look at the spudspudspudspudspud run. i need to move mine up higher.. I'm suprised I haven't torn mine open considering how badly I've bashed it up.

how big is the stock toyota tank, i can only fit 40L from E? i want bigger tank?

stock toy tank is anywhere from 55-65L depending on the years and model. Most are at least 60L though so thats pretty good range with a 4cyl.

If you can only fit 40L you're not going empty enough. The stock toy gas gauge goes well below the E before it runs out (if you read the manual it says that E means 'nearly empty' so its still got quite a bit left). Bring a jerry can with you one day and drive till you run out of gas so you know the limits. Either that or your tank is dented badly or isn't stock.

tank is not dented, yet, but ya i will try that with a jerry can

what year did they start putting in the gas light though?

and ya, on my old '89 4runner it would come on at least 50km before I was empty.

much easier to use a stock tank if you got one.

Plus the stock Toy pumps are extremely reliable. Its very rare you hear of one having a problem. Personally the main thing holding me back from a custom fuel cell is having to use a crappy GM pump.

Thanks peoples, my tank is smashed to shit and rusty, mounts are total rust gonna look for a decent stock tank and mount it up as high as I can sideways near the front of the flatdeck if I can ... agree with using stock fuel pump and all, is the guauge sensor in there also?[cheers]

the sending unit is separate from the pump

easiest way it get get a tank out of a 22re since it will ahve the high pressure fuel pump in it. I've never swapped a 22re fuel pump into a carb'd tank before, so i dunno if its a direct bolt on or custom job. I don't think its that easy, because a lot of guys converting to EFI end up just adding an inline fuel pump to their stock tank. maybe someone else knows for sure?
