Hey this thread is just a picture of my truck its an Alberta based rig its a 77' Sub Disquised as an 83' (hood, fenders,Grille, lights wiring troughout the whole truck no shitty glass fuses, power windows that work when they choose to complimented with some handstiched leather in form of the grant steerin wheel and the the leather bowtie engraved dashpad with four captains chairs with 2 whiskey/beer holders each haha)under the hood theres some torque and horsepower in form of a stroked cadillac .500-.513 into the 400 manual valve body put together by racetech in edmonton np 205 into some 4:56 gears tucked inside a d60 front and a 14b rear both carriers r open still enuff for the 49 Iroks , other goodies include the bumpers a 14 inch chrome drop in the back a really custom built bumper in the front built from a bunker on a log deck it holds the the frame there when the 49's r burried and u need to pull out the 1/2" cable to the 12.000 lbs warn inside kinda protects the big four core rad, dual electric fans, twin marine deepcycle batteries behind it and the 4 8" lights on the roof help out in the dark the spare parts r for havin fun the tools r for helpin everyone and the straps and tow hooks r for wheelin with the ford boys... but this rig is mine built for shit and abuse and amongst other things its my daily driver so when you work monday mornin sometimes you got to be a lil lighter on the right foot but it usually doesnt listen to me i do usually manage to make it home 90% of the time on my own power so here r the pics so let me know what ya guys think of the beater.[36] [36]

01-15-2006, 02:42 PM
yeah srry i havent answered any questions bin busy sleddin the last couple days here but yeah i see yur wonderin whats under it and what works the diff is a 60 in the front 10.5 14 bolt in the back i need oversized hardened axles in the front cuz i have blown some u joints and stubs apart havent had trouble with my hubs or carrier at all i havent put forth the money to buy a good driveshaft for the front i usually have 3 or 4 corse spleen ones with me a good driveshaft might last an hour under the abuse of the 500 caddy with a 21 inch footprint on the ground(in the mud)but usually 20 mins half hour or one good shot of the throttle in the wrong spot but id rather be changin my 5 minute driveshaft job then a 3 hour axle shaft replacement so not complainin there as far as it rubbin yeah i bin lazy and havent got around to it but i never ripped my cab off yet... not all the way haha im actually plannin on scrappin this thing and startin on a coil over 67' mini monster so maybe next fall/winter i should have this thing destroyed im gonna build something else to drive this summer so i can run it way harder then i do now u know how it is when yur whellin sunday night and u work monday mornin...

Cadillacburb
01-15-2006, 02:50 PM
hey 78,
Ive bin building my sub since i was 15 and wouldnt u think id have a 60 cut and indexed to fit in the front seens how it is on a set of 49 in IROK's it deos see alot of pavement(over 60'000km since april 05') considering its my daily driver but its deff not just a pavement pounder but thanks for the comment.

p.s:im a chevy guy but u should see my fords...(insert ford guy jealousy here)[36]

01-15-2006, 03:47 PM
Gonna have to agree with stuckle on those rear fenders. If ya gonna fork the cash on those 49's you dont want to be chewin them up on your fenders. Just my .02.

Cadillacburb
01-19-2006, 12:08 AM
this truck has open diffs front and back i have a locker for the back but it was decided against at the same time as putting 49's on and the caddy in there basically cuz i dont like changing grenaded axles that much considering its only one tonne running gear it cant handle all the shit and abuse id deff have it in there if i wasnt takin it to work and back everyday for what i need it basically gets me where i need to go unfortunetly my friends run bassically 35's at biggest or drive a ford so it doesnt matter where i am in the pack i know ill be makin it through and best of all be comin home under my own power.

Camorokee
01-19-2006, 09:17 AM
rear 14b with detroit would handle the 500 and 49's in a burb with very little breakage. There is NOTHING your gonna be able to do to keep the front 60 together in terms of stub axles.

Cadillacburb
01-19-2006, 09:42 PM
Hey camaro i was wanderin why u dont think puttin ctm axleshafts and u joints into my 60 wouldnt hold up better then the stock ones where u gettin yur parts i wants some... and as far the locker ive grenaded axles in my 14 bolt rears with the little 44's on with a 400 smallblock turnin them so i guess the added torque and traction would maybe cause more breakage but what do i know thanx for the help.

Cadillacburb
01-19-2006, 09:49 PM
1503This is for the ford guys just curious what kinda offers id get for my ummm (srry chev guys) ford i have ill clarify its not for sale im just wanderin... its a 75' Bronco 302 cobra with an indexed 44 in the front disc brakes and 9 inch rear sits up nine inches over stock on 40x17 gumbo's loves mud doesnt mind wheelyin for fun.

Camorokee
01-20-2006, 02:35 PM
well in my little sub with 44's and a 496 I din't break rear diffs, my front with hardened 35 spline stub used to break so violently they would shoot out through the warn hubs but I guess my built 496 didn't have the power of that huge caddy

sounds like someone is scared to use there right foot so u say stub axles did u change both yur axles and match thats with a better u join or did u just put the outers on stock axles? but we can all agree on one tonne running gear isnt as bombproof as we'd preffer except maybe yur 14b in yur burban wheres pics of yur burban love to see it.
