Anyone have experience pulling an open carrier from a 10.25"[?] I pulled the shafts and removed the bearing caps but that biatch is in there solid, am i missing something or do I need a bigger pry bar[?]
I want to weld the spiders and change to 4.10 gears. Will also be doing the same to the d60 front as soon as I get a hub socket.

tried it with a 2.5' crowbar and a 1' screw driver - no luck, didn't budge, no side to side movement at all

They can be in there tight. Keep working at it with the 2.5' crowbar. Wedge the ring gear with chunk of wood so it doesn't spin away from the bar, or wedge the other end of the screwdriver against something solid. Watch your toes.

Got it out and now I'm pissed, the gears I bought have the long pinion and my diff has a short pinion. Can I use the long pinion with a different yoke to compensate [?][?]

Ya long pinion from what I've been told 93 + up ford lengthened the pinion to increase splined surface for the yoke to eliminate vibration, so looks like all I need is a yoke from a 93 or newer

yeah ..it seems most aftermarket gears are useing the long spline......much better yoke engagement on pinion.
You just need the yoke for the long pinion splines and yer off.........The're not cheap new but you may get one from a wrecker.... and like srepside said ....i think its 93 up
