So I am thinking I am going to stick with coild spacers. I hear there is no point on spending big dough on a lift when I should switch to straight axle anyways.

My question is this.

Adding 1.5inch spacers to a 3 inch lift.

Will this ass ground clearance or just body clearance. Doesn't this just cause me to "pre-flex" or something?

I think ia m going to order them online unless someone has a good idea as to how I can make em myself. I get a kick out of fabricating my own stuff. maybe carve a hockey puck to fit?

Heheh.

What is it youre wanting to lift??If its a coil sprung side kick /tracker just go the Sky spacers !You will need the strut extensions as well for the front and new rear shocks for the back!Minimal cost and a great way to lift em !!![cheers]

Ok, I will go through the lift with you that im planing.

2 1/4" coil spacer in the front. Give 3" of lift. With a 3 1/4" strut spacer.

Nissan 180XS(ithink) truck rear coil springs. Give 3" of lift. With a 1" coil spacer for 4" of rear lift. Ford F-150 Shocks.

3.5" Diff ball joint spacer. (helps flex)

3" Body Lift

3" Gas Tank Lift

Some 31x10.50 Muds

This lift will give you a zuk looking 10"-11.5" taller then a stocker one.
I have been making this lift in my head for a long time. E-Mail me if you want this in better detail.

Um it's an 1991 sidekick. stock suspension. 4 inch DIY body lift. on dead 30x9.5xR15 bfg at's (I think BFG)

I got a nifty new rear bumper thanks to Fitz, and I am looking at building a new bumper soon.. But I need to find a good winch first. I am told it's best to buil the bumper around the winch. er somthing. I dunno. I am handy enough to tackle most projects, I have a full fab shop and kinda like to take the DIY way whenever possible.

we have a three body lift and it clears the 31s but we are gonna put 30s 0n it and add 1.5 inch spacers + flip the strut mount and extend the rear shocks .

Rob just put the 2" spacer lift CJMike recomended in my '91 Tracker.... My Xmas present... (sorry, I haven't had time to post my pics.... soon) We found that it is about as high as you want to go cause the wheels and tires lean slightly like this... \----/
The book says there is no adjustment for this so I don't think you would want to go higher on the IFS lift unless you make longer A arms like Calmini does.
I am pleased with our results so far... the rocker panels are much higher now. We are still going to put the 3" body lift in later this spring.

Well, I have seen kicks with 3" coil spacers and they got there alinment fixed at the tire shop. It is a white sidekick in kelowna with 3" spacers. IMO, That is pushing it on a coil spacer lift. The only down side to the coil spacer is you loose flex. That is why if you put in Nissan spring you will gain flex. I will be putting a lift in like this in about 180 days. thats a lot of screwing around to fit 31s. just go a body lift for now and then a sas and bigger lift later.

how do you loose travel with spacers?
if you lower the strut mount and increase the rear shock length you will have at least the same travel ,The amount the spring compresses and expands will remain constant the location is the only thing that changes. Granted you will now function in a different part of the arc radius but it wouldnt be a significant enough change to cause any real problems. (1.5 -2 inch spacers max)

A coil spacer doesn't compress like a spring will, the coil spacer would act like a bumpstop. If you have the Nissan 180SX springs with a 31" tire at full flex you will rub on the upper fender. That is why you need a 1" spacer to stop your tires from hitting the upper fender.
All that you have to modify to put the suspention lift in is the upper shock mount on the rear if you use F-150 shocks. You can up crown vic shock and you wouldnt have to modify anything. Can if you do a gas tank lift you will have to do some grinding. E-Mail me if you have any questions.
I know a guy that is running a lift just like this just with different shocks. I know this lift will work if you put it in. I'm putting it in mine.

All you NEED fron picknpull is the rear springs from a Nissan 180SX truck. You will have to make up ball joint spacer and a strut spacer.

With this you will clear 31x10.50 with no rubbing. With some trimming you could clear a 33x12.50 but i wouldn't do that do to power loss with the stock gearing.

Thanks. sounds good. I am gooing to start looking for parts.

Is there a spring I can buy for the back that I wouldnt have to mod the mounts?

Helmz

coils from 93 F150 4x4.

would this work for the back?

A coil spring spacer sits on top of the spring thus lowering the surface the spring sits on . The spring stll has its original compression and extension. It is the front struts travel which is the biggest limiting factor which is whiy you drop the strut accordingly.

They are probably to stiff for the light weight of the sidekick to a F-150. Can't find Nissan Springs?

coil spring spacers do not work as bumbstops!

fuck your springs should not be movin up and down to need bump stops

the spacer is just that a spacer......

and if used right is a cheap effective way of gaining clearance
granted not a lot but theydefinatly are NOT bumpstops..
