Hey,

I just lifted my 89 cherokee 2". Just wondering what you guys think about running 33's as a daily driver... on the 2.5 4cylinder. I'm thinking 31's for now then 33's or 35's /w a 6cylinder swap?

Your link no work. I got a 90 Cherokee with a 4" lift running 31's and they rub...no fender cutting done to it tho. The 2.5 is pretty gutless for 33's as a DD I think. The price of cherokees these days it's probably cheaper to buy one with a 6 in it than do a swap....just sayin'

My freind just bought a 1990 YJ with 33s and the 2.5. I had to drive it home for him, it wasnt to bad, but it wasnt that good. It handled it fine,it just takes awhile to get up to speed, and the guy he bought it from said on the highway it isnt really worth it to shift into 5th gear because it will cruize in that but as soon as you need to speed up even slightly or if the road starts to have an uprade it boggs way down. But i could still spin the tires on the slighly wet pavement if i reved it up and dumped the clutch. ahahah

A 2" lift is not enough for 33's. You will get massive rubbing. I have a 5" to 6" lift on my XJ and the 33's I have still rub a bit. Fender trimming is a must for me. I know a guy with a 2" lift on his XJ and he runs 30x9.5x15 with no issues at all.

I had a 2.5 lift in my XJ and ran 30x9.50`s I tried a set of 31`s but they rubbed a fair bit.Stick with the 30x9.50`s and remove the sway bars,it will give a lot of bodu roll on the street but excellent flex off road.Add in a locker or a welded rear end Voila! and instant goat/DD.
Good tires also play a huge part in offroad ability.

I'm running 32" muds on my XJ with the R.E. 3.5" lift, Although I
had to cut my fenders and am using flares from a TJ, (alot cheaper than Bushwackers), here's a link on how to fit the TJ flares...

wtf.... I have a 9" on my chero and I could throw 38's on...I have 35's and there is lots of room.

For a 2" lift 33's wont do..... my opinion go for 31's

Your Wagoneer is a full size unit the XJ is alot smaller with a 2" lift I would not go above 29's. I have 6" of lift on my XJ and I can get the tires rubbing the next time you see my XJ check out the fender wells there ain't alot of paint left in there.
Also the 2.5 will drink gas with bigger tires on it you may want to consider changing the gears as well. I have the 4liter and when I move up to bigger tires I will be swaping the 355's for 411's.
