I have a '78 f250 lowboy with a 4" rancho lift. The problem is that I now have stacked blocks (7" total). My wheel hop is just brutal. Can I flip my shackels and maybe put in 1/2 ton 4" lift springs, or should I run a pivoting bar from the top of my diff to my frame ? Any sujestions.

And is it possible that the wheel hop from the rear axlewrap is causing my front "44" to keep breaking axles ?

either an anti wrap bar on the rear end or get rid of the blocks, 7" is huge lift from blocks. you should shackle flip and get rid of the blocks alltogether, but if you defide to keep with them build an anit wrap bar(2 points on the axle vertically seperated by about 9 inches it is i believe) to a single point with a shackle to allow for movement(the shackel in the tension position is what most people use) and try to mount it on the passanger side of the diff close to the pumpkin(as close as you can get to reduce binding which would limit flex). either side will work but if you can try on the passanger side. build it as long as the leafs at least, longer if you can though

ive got 0 blocks on my bronco 2 and the axle wrap is horrible, i cant imagine what you have.

Ok ive got some horrible axle wrap as well, whats the best way to build a type of "ladder bar" system, any personal exsperience out there to be offered.

shakle flip and lift springs . I run 6" springs in the rear and a shacle flip.....keeps the wrap under control.
Ladder bars need a lot of serious tgought while designing them or it........can seriously impede articulation or brek or break other things.
good luck.

It sounds like the shackel flip is a good way to go, but is there any adverse affects to flipping shackels...........will there be a greater chance of shackel inversion on the trail, or will the shackel flip rotate the rearend to too much of an angle for oil dispersement ?

do the shackle flip and see what the pinion angle looks like, if its way out of wack, a shim can correct the problem. go to http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/susp/axlewrap/ its a great article about helping axle wrap, the ladder bar setup is easy and does not reduce articulation. thats what i am going to build when i get this thing running properly

Man,thanks so much for that linck, good stuff their. I had considered doing a schacle flip to help lift my truck up a bit, but i have to go into underground parking garages all the time, and theres usually like 4-5 inches of space on most pipes so i cant go any heigher. Hope i dont hit on them when i get 33s.

shackle flip for sure ditch the blocks or just keep the factory block

i clear 36"s with lots o room for 44"s

yeah
like i said...this project requires a lot of engineering and undersatnding of movement and forces or it CAN break or limit wheel travel
Best bet is not to have a ladder bar.....a properly desined suspension doesnt need one unless u r drag racing!

rebulon, whats ur beef with the anyi wrap and how do you figure it will break anything? what would break? and limit wheel travel? not if its mounted as close to the pumpkin as possible

like i said........properly engineered
Ive seen lots of backyard "stuff"
The welds on the axles tube can rip free and if the welding is any good...destroy the tubes.....as you know the axle moves in ALL directions when wheeling....not everyone understands or grasps exactly what this means.........similar to the ..lift blocks good in rear...lift blocks good in front thing.....
if not properly placed the Trac bar can do any number of a myiad of negative things.....
I guess in the case of suspension i could be considered a minimalist....or simply srated adhere to the KISS theorum.
