check wreckers, id say go with a 10.25 sterling rear end, a stock 60 is not much stronger than the 8.8 or 9" you are currently running.

i paid 1500 for a 60 front and a sterling complete from a wrecker, and the rest was just work putting it in(plus the little things like shock towers, brake lines, leafs.....)

the sterling 10.25 or10.5 are roughly the same as dana 70 ...the axles are so strong in fact that there is no aftermarket axles for them as it is not necessary...they are strong....the aftermarket gears are all of the long pinion spline....the same as the 10.5 ( the newer stytle after 91 or so) so you will have to get a new yoke if you change gears!.........its alll good....the high pinion dana60 is the strongest because the pinion contacts the ring gear on the convex side in drive......the semi floating sterling 9.75 is shit....there are no aftermarket parts for it....(lockers etc) good luck Pete

oh yeah....you can pay anywhere from 800 to 1200 or so for the 60 front and a hell of a lot less for the 10.25 sterling rear

they r similar....the good 14 bolt is easier to set up because the pinion housing gets shims like a 9 inch....but the housing has a lot of excess material on the bottom of the housing limiting ground clesrance and the sterling uses an o ring to seal the axle to the hub instead of a cheasy gasket.

the 14 bolt is also cheaper to put a detroit in because it uses the stock carrier which is fully enclosed ...like a 9 inch

Hmm thats good to know, what are some of the ways of identifying if my truck has one, or something else, im pretty sure it does but the person who owned the truck before me didnt know, and the tag in the door that would have had a code or whatever is rubbed off. Help please.

Its a 3\4, hope that aint bad news, and i dont have an answer about the removeable axles while the wheels are still on, never had to remove them. I dont thingk im going to like the answer. All i would be able to say about it with out going out and investigating further is that it looks huge, and that aint much help.
