ok i need to find a newer toyota driveshaft with the double joint style, it can be either rear or front, preferably rear because it will be shortened for cheaper, the reason is is because that ball thats between the joints is done, as with most of them. so what years could i find one from?

as far as I know there never was a double cardan joint in any of the rear driveshafts.

I believe 83-85 are the optimal years for the front shaft as they have a bit more flex. You can also use a front IFS shaft and clearance the cardan housing to get enough flex out of it. There's write-ups on pirate and 4x4wire on how to do it.

Personally though, I would just say fuck it and build a square shaft with a regular u-joints on both ends

never ever herd of one in the rear, but i had the problem with my front, it was fucked, toyota told me i was screwed, i asked people on hear and everyone said make one. no point, if ya really want go ahead, but i went to pats drive line in portkells and the kit to rebuild it is 40$, and 1/2 hour labour if u want them to do it. it's press in shit. i got them to do mine, 2 new u joints put in, tougher than the lodco shit, and fix the ball and shit, cost about 160$, looks fuckin great

also i had no problems running s single u joint on each end on my front shaft(6inch lift) before i put duals in. I used my old 2 peice rear shaft out of my 84, shortened it and it worked mint.
