Well my 4Runner is hard to start in the cold, so I tested the cold start injector & I guess its shot. Anyone have one for a 22RE in the Okanagan.?

have you checked to see if its getting power? You can use a peice of wire to jumper the diagnostic port under the hood to test it.

Mine not working either, but thats because of a wiring issue... the temp sensor isn't hooked up properly so the ecu doesn't know it needs to turn the cold start injector on. For now I just give it a shot of ether down the air intake before I go to start it when its cold and it starts right up.

We had this issue with my friends 22re, and it just turn out to be a bad ground on the injector. Put a volt meter on the wire feeding the 12v to the injector. If that's not there when you're starting it in the morning, the injector is likely fine.
It's a matter of getting a diagram, and then tracing the wiring and see how far the 12V for the injector makes it.

It could just be the sensor and not the injector

Hey Big Ern you shoot ether in your intake I hammer my starter before I fire mine up, ha ha ha.

Only difference is mine isn't daily driven. I've onyl had to move mine out of the garage twice in the last couple months so I could work on my car...

Starter is easy to rebuild. Probably a combination of worn out contacts and a wiring issue.

Contacts you can buy from the dealer for pretty cheap. And I did a write-up about the wiring fix here: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287065

Nice and I thought I would just have to pull and clean, thanks for the input I'll check it all out. And ya it seems to do it and the battery is low.

I put an ohm meter on the injector, should read between 2 - 4 ohms. Mine reads 0. I had already changed the relay so I figure (from reading the book) it's the injector?????
Thinking of going on the Toy run Sun. so maybe just bring my real truck instead. Toyota wants $136.00 for a new injector & no after market ones.

Screw those assholes at Toyota in Vernon.

Get ahold of me and we can score one at the wreckers. There should be a couple at Interior wrecking. Also try StillRYE off the board and see what Lordco can do for you.

You can also quote account number #3967 for Lordco for a discount.

no go on aftermarket
Went to Interior to "5 finger discount" but they didn't have any engines in there wrecks. I was afraid to ask how much for one, I find they can be out to lunch alot of times.
Going to play with it on Sat, check stuff sujested here. If I can't fix it right away, I'll just plug the block heater in for Sunday Toy Run.

Lordco doesn't list one, Napa does at $208.00 more than Toyota!

Went to Pick-Ur-Nose, they didn't have any 22RE's but I did score one from a 2000 , 16 valve. Pull mine out & the holes don't line up. Thinking of making it fit, but don't know if it'll work.

Why is it that as soon as you say it's a Toyota, the price goes through the fuckin roof.

My 4Runner has rust over the pass rear wheel well. I just did a Ford 1/2 ton last summer, $32 a side. Go to Napa & look in the Cross Canada book, they have them for P/U's but not the Runner. P/U one (same size as the Ford ones I bought for $32) is $130.00[wtf]
Same Tiawan shit so why the big $$$$ difference, fuckin Toyota.
