Hey, my buddy wants to start build up a jeep. At first we were just gunna get his dads 94 dodge 3500 because it has a 500hp v10 but were passing on that and decideding to build a jeep. Where not quite sure what platform to start with. He would like to do a yj or maby a older cj, anything but a cherokee. The budget is quite large and this things gunna be a beast. Where getting a crate engine most likely and he wonts this thing to be making 500hp,(kind have a theme in his family) and run about 39 inch tires. Dana 60s that i guess would need narrowing and lockers of course, unless there is a better alternative. So if anyone out there has any input that would help us getting started that would be great. He wonts to get going on it asap, we just have to decide what to start with. Anyone with parts that we might need that wonts to sell or any previous experience please let me know. Thanks

ya theres no way in hell my buddie would go for that. Gassoline only. Gas doesnt matter to much for him, his dads dodge with the 500horse V10 sucks alot of fuel, not to mention the viper in the garage as well[49][49][36]

if you are going 500 hp & up, maby you might want to consider Rockwell axles and a Atlas transfer case.

If he's talking about the new Viper motor it has 500hp 500ft-lbs torque stock. The new Ram SRT-10 uses the same engine as well. The original viper engine was a lot less though...

Ok to answer everyones quetions, 1st i have considered running a atlas transfer case but that prob wont happen, 2nd the dodge truck did come with the v10 stock, its kinda rare, not to many did. Its had lots of work done to it to get it to 500hp. He had it port and polished, chiped, and so on. And the viper has more like 600 horse, he sent to hennisy ( not aware of the correct spelling) down in the state where some engine and suspention work was done.

I was thingking about ordering some axles from Dynatrack. Either their trail series but maby the pro rock or what ever they are. Hmm..and the atlas is looking like the way were gunna go.

not to be a dink but I'm getting tired of every motor out there having 500hp, if anyone has been around performance engines they would know what it takes to make 500hp RELIABLY for the street. That v10 came with 300hp stock without a supercharger, notrous ect it would need MAJOR interoir motor modifications to add 200hp so if it does thats fuking wicked but I call bull and without a dyno sheet you can't say for sure how much it has.

Well, if i had an unlimited budget to buy a jeep. I would probably start with a TJ unlimited... But if you are just gonna butcher it anyways... I would start with a YJ probably. Cheaper, lots of stuff out there for them, and easier to find.

Drop a viper engine in the YJ... They fit. Or jsut a V10 if you want. Or you could go with a hemi, they go in too... Use the NV4500 tranny... then go atlas T-case.
Go with a pro-rock, or Currie dana 60's... eaton e-lockers in both...
For suspension... Go custom 4 links and coil overs. Extend the wheelbase....

Chop the fenders... It's not a hard decision if you have the cash sitting there....
I have less then $7500 into my YJ... it's got a Small block 350, 4 sp Np205... Eaton rear with detroit locker and with disc brakes... 38.5" boggers. - and it's my daily driver

87 YJ, 2.5" BL, SOA Dana 44's front and back, 8274 warn, 36" TSLs, 350 SBC/SM465/NP205, no lockers, and beat to shit, and my daily driver to boot.

Ya he bought a 1990 YJ today with a 6inch lift and 33s, and hes gunna drive that for 3 months just to get comfortable with the whole 4x4 thing then well pull it appart and start. We decided on currie dana 60s and prob step down the engine to a 383 stroker.

ok this buddy he is talking about is me... the dodge has been P&Pd, Headers, Exhaust, Chiped. we've scaled down the horse power to about 35-400. so far were going with a 350 or 383, dana 60's, turbo 400, 38' boggers, Hella Rallye 4000 xenon spots, custome exhaust off the sides (old viper style)and paint it army edition flat green. we've got the jeep, its a 1990 YJ. im plaining on running it as is for the time being it already has 33's on it and im gonna run it until things start to break, or spring which ever comes 1st. any parts you have that i need, let me know. thanx
