Got a problem I can't figure out, idles high which I can figure out but when driving it if you let it lug in higher gears it will backfire thru the carb and blow the dipstick out and spew oil all over. It's the 4.2 inline 6. Runs good otherwise, just blowing oil. Think the motor is fuckered or has anyone else had this problem? I drove it and it has lots of power, considering, and compression is good. The bottom end seems to be pressurizing for some reason. PVC valve is good, still rattles. Thanks.[cheers]

next time it does it, get out real quick and dump and can of gas on it, and maybe a match too. that should show where the problem is coming from... or at least solve the problem[22]

Just oiled it up and took it out hillclimbing...it runs way better with the oil filler cap off, it's sucking air into the valve cover LOTS and making odd squealing noises now.....but it won't die!![15][36]

I been searching with no luck, anyone ever seen a write up on a carburated sbc swap for one of these things?[cheers]

or...is a 4.2 worth rebuilding? It's weird how it runs so good other than the oil thing.[16]
