Thinking of buying a bronco 2...i dont know much about them but i'v seen a couple for sale for cheap so i was wondering how much lifts are and if it would be a good idea to get one. what axles they have stock. I want to rock crawl and do more trail riding then anything so flex is good...any pics or info would be great thanks

well in stock forum they are pretty weak, but there is alot of shit you can do to them
depending on how much you want to spend and wantto do with it. if you want good flex for
rock crawling then you prob wantto swap in a solid axle in in the front and a bigger rear
axle a donor truck would be a 78-79 bronco as they have a high pinion dana 44 and depending
and depending what type of rear axle they come with a ford 9 inch wich are good or swap in a
8.8 out of a 86 and newer ford bronco or pickup. but these are full width axles so you will also
have to run some fender flares as they will stick out a shit load on each side and depending on
how much money you want to spend you will need someonr to install them and its not cheap unless
you know how to do it. also if you go that way you might also want to swap in a different motor and
tranny and t-case (more money). there is also another way you can go but you wont get the flex as
you would get with a straight axle but you will get a pretty dam good trail ride and handling
get a ttb and 8.8 out a ford explorer early 90-91 i think is where they start. you can also find
a rear 8.8 with disc brakes in them to and those will bolt right in and then you put on i think a max tire of 33
and if you get a whole donor truck you can swap in the motor and tranny and t-case which you can do your self
alot easier than a solid axle swap. as you can see there is alot you can do...remember your wallet is the limit
hope this helps you

thanks for the replies guys! not sure what i'm going to do but the info helped, i know i want something with a solid axle but i dont know if its worth the time and $$$ to do a solid axle swap when i could buy something with a solid axle already and build off of that. but thanks again for the info

I have the D35 and 8.8 in my 85 ranger, 8.8 took some fitting but other then the driveshaft for the 35 it bolted right in, id swap the radius arms thou the shock mounts on the 35 suck. so far so good but I only run 31s id like too eventully lock the 8.8 and throw on some 33s.

Watch out, there are lots of POS's out there. Watch the engine, 2.8L are junk and are hard on gas. I found mine very hard to work on. But try your luck I know my luck ran out when I bought mine.

cant wait till i have time to fix the truck, fawk its too fun, bronco 2's are awesome, narrow eanough for most trails(even with fullwidth axles) and the best part, there not a chevy[22]

just make sure your thermostat isnt fucked, im sure thats what wrecked all my 2.8l engines
