View Full Version : fuel system Help!!!!!

ok ive changed about every part on my truck sill wont run , lots of spark lots of fuel in the fuel rail (with fuel pump hard wired) new igniton modual, new fuel relay, lots o gas in the tank , fuel pump not getting power from the harness, im stummped on this any one else have this problem?

ON MY 88 FORD F150 HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DONE EVERYTHING FROM FUEL PUMP TO THE RELAYS TO MODULES. FOUND OUT THERE WAS A GROUND WIRE ON THE THE INNER FRONT FENDER THAT WASNT GROUNDED FIXED THE PROBLEM AND IT RAN GREAT WELL AT LEAST IT STARTED

check the trip switchg on the firewall....its to the kleft of the clutch or the brake. on the inside.........button on top.....rollover or shock switch....check it .....press it.........good luck

we tryed that, the "inertia switch" still no lukc though...

does it run when you hard wire the pump? you have a new relay in but is it working?, can you hear it click or beter yet check with a test light to see if power is geting through, if it is and still isnt geting to the pump probly beter off just runnin a new wire from the relay

does this ford have 2 fuel pumps? one in the tank and one on the frame? caus if only one is working you will have fuel in the rail but not enuf PRESSURE for it to run, also you can easily check the injectors with a test light to see if the computer is fiering them one side will have constant ignition power and one side will have a flashing ground from the computer, if you have proper fuel pressure and the injectors are fiering it is posible that on of the inputs to the computer is out of range, the coolant temp sensor or intake temp sens, or I have even seen the map sensor send false info to the computer causing it not to deliver enuf fuel to start

Try cecking the play in the timing chain that sometimes gives those symptoms!!!

like duff said.....if it has two tanks, low pressure pump in tank to swich the spool.....high pressure pump on frame rail...good luck

okay if u got it to run but with a primer maybe your coldstart solinoid(injector) is Fucked..??????

do a pressure test on your fuel rail of the schraeder valve.
as well as a bleed down.


if the reg is fucked it will not allow psi to build.

WE DIDNT PUT ON A PSI TESTER BUT lots OF PRESSURE out of the valve,,wheres the cold start sol????

you should still check the press with a gauge, if the regulator is fubar you might have enugh volume of fuel to spray out of the valve but not enugh press for the injectors to work properly, did you check the injectors for power and ground? also if you have a good manual try to get some codes out of the computer, if it will run on carbclean and you have the right amount of fuel press ther must be a problem with the injectors not delivering fuel

Iam just thinkin simple shit first, an the basic of FI is it needs a coldstart solioid which is basically another injector to give it extra gas to run as they have no choke. there is also another sensor which tells the CSS to shut off/on.
I have no idea where it would be on your truck as there all differant.but there usually in the intake manifold

never seen a cold start injector on a ford efi, generly the ecu just inceaces the pulse width on the injectors

exactly why u want to check psi and bleed down
if reg is allowing psi to drop then it will starve or die altogether.
5psi of fuel could seem like a lot o pressure.


typical ford injector for a v8 requires minimal 16psi grey i think

if not 19 the orange ones.

if ya kno wthe pump is working and u here the relay prime then the only thing left would be fuel delivery.

think of it as a bad float..
