actually its not a question but more like what the fuck do i do? ok so i have no power to the fuse box and no lights on the dash, but i did yeasterday when i disconnected the inline fuse(orwhatever you call it) and tuched it to the battery, i even turned over the engine, but i cut the back end of the fuse off to day and put a connector on so i can run it straight to the battery(because i couldnt find a new inline fuse connector) and now it doesnt work, so what gives? i can hear some clicking in the carb when i touch the other cable to the positive terminal so that one must be working? i give up, fucking [!]electrical

this is the double one that runs to the carb starter or whatever else, you can see the wires just above the green fuse thing

I just had a problem like that. No power to the dash/guages.
Trouble shoot backwards.

it seemed to be from the battery back to the fuses but since i by-passed them it hasnt made a difference. where can i get more electrical cable? the wire itself looks fine so it couldnt have been burnt out

Top pic, top green connector looks pretty melted! Probably from bad connection = high resistance = high heat. Don't take out any fusible links and just add standard wire, unless you have specified perils or comprehensive insurance!:D

Take apart any/all connections make sure they are clean and tight, check all fuses with a test light or multimetre, don't just look at them, sometimes they pull apart inside where you can't see!

Chances are that if the fuse HOLDER was messed up, so was the wiring itself. Don't drive like this but try a jumper wire between the fuse box supply and the batt. make sure the old supply wire is not connected... might be worn through and may go ZAP on you... go slow and try to follow the route of power.... Working backwards works good too.
