i have a 92 chevy heavy half with the independant front suspension, im very interested in doing a solid axle swap! i would like to know what all i would need and what i would have to change to do this job? also i would like to know if anyone close to penticton is able to do this and possibly help me do it if i go through with it, im thinking i would go with a dana 60 in the front with 4.10 gears and hopefully a locker. any suggestions?

alrightyy.... you're going to need to torch the front IFS all out. From there, get a box fabbed up that will hang the leafs from the front, and get some shackles mounted in the frame. From there, you should go cross-over steering, so tie rod, drag link, drop pitman arm. Shocks will need to be mounted. Also, looking into maybe getting a new drive-shaft.

Off road unlimited sells a kit, as does sky.

good lord! who needs flex! them damn leafs is almost circles!!

not knockin the work, jsut a lil concerned.. but that skachle angle is 180* out.. when the spring compresses it will stretch, and it looks like it'll bind on the skackle... or am i lookin at it funny

its still a ways off, gettin front/rear traction bar, crossover steering, and possibly a front panhard bar..... sj-x 500 your lookin at the shackle wrong, its the front with no weight on it so the shackles move way forward cus the springs are so nuts....my buddie had the springs made so i got to make em work...personally i think there a lil too much but its not my truck....the one problem with this bodystyle is they need a huge lift to clear anything bigger than 40's, unless you move the front axle forward 4-5" which is tough with leaf springs (it definatly wont leave my yard till its safe though!!)
